Choosing your lenses

Single Vision

All our orders for single vision glasses will be prepared according to your distance or reading prescriptions. They are also hard-coated as standard (see About Your Sight for information on long and short-sighted vision)

Hard Coating

This is free to Specs2you® customers and is designed to protect your lenses from every day wear and tear. It will not protect your lenses against damage from being dropped or abrasive materials.

Anti-Reflective Coating

This coating is designed to reduce glare or ‘scatter’ induced from a lens. It is beneficial to everyone in day to day activity to specify this particular option. For example:

  • Night driving : reducing the glare from oncoming head lights
  • Computer screens: Helps reduce the glare from the computer monitors
  • Looks great !! If you notice on television or at the cinema all actors wearing glasses have this coating on them so you can see their eyes and not the reflections, making them look great. This can be the same for you!

This coating also helps reduce smearing in the rain, allowing the water to bead off your glasses keeping them looking great come rain or shine!

Thin Lenses

1.6 Thin Lenses - for anyone with a prescription of over 2 dioptres in power (+2.00 / -2.00). This option thins the lens so it looks better and feels lighter

1.67 Very Thin Lenses - for anyone with a prescription of over 3.50 dioptres in power (+3.50 / -3.50). Again, this thins the lens so it looks better and feels lighter

Reaction Lenses

These lenses are also known as, Transition, Photo chromic or Reactor light lenses. They are lenses that change colour with the intensity of Ultra Violet light, so there is no need to carry around sunglasses. When outside they darken, once you enter a building or shade they lighten. (Take about one minute to lighten). They do not work in the car as your windscreen blocks out Ultra Violet light.
(Not available in the very thin lens option)

Bi-Focals

Bi-focals are recommended for those who have a prescription for both distance and reading. This is usally indicated by an ‘Add’ or a second line to your prescription. For example:

Right eye:

Please ensure you enter all your details correctly. There

Specs2you® recommend you ask your optician to make out your prescription for your glasses to be worn at 12-13 mm from your eyes.

Aspheric Lens

This lens option will reduce the thickness of your lens by making it flatter. It will also improve the visual quality of the lens. It can be added to a basic lens or to a thin or very thin lens as an option. Specs2you® recommend this lens for anyone over 1.50 dioptres. It greatly benefits the thin lens option.

Extras

You may also like to order an extra cloth, hard case, lens cleaning solution or a cord to secure your glasses around your neck. We sell them all and they can be ordered by clicking on <extras>
